Israeli prosecutors have filed charges against an 18-year-old from Beit Shemesh at the Jerusalem District Youth Court, accusing him of committing serious sexual offences against a minor. The state prosecution has also requested that the defendant be remanded in custody pending the conclusion of his criminal proceedings. According to the indictment, the allegations span a period of approximately two years, during which the accused allegedly committed multiple sexual offences against a child aged between 8 and 10 years old at the time of the incidents. The youth court in Jerusalem specialises in cases involving defendants under 18 or cases relating to offences against minors, which are treated with heightened severity under Israeli law. The charges represent some of the most serious offences under Israel’s penal code, and the prosecution’s request for remand suggests they consider the defendant a significant risk.
