Israeli police have detained several businessmen for questioning on suspicion of concealing property rights and asset smuggling worth millions of shekels. The investigation, conducted by the Financial Crimes Unit (Lahav 433), centres on allegations involving real estate assets and illegal asset transfers.
Among those detained is a former Knesset member who currently holds a senior position within the Likud party, alongside several other former party officials. The suspects are accused of orchestrating a scheme to hide ownership stakes in real estate holdings and illegally moving assets out of the country.
The investigation represents a significant development given the high-profile status of those involved in Israeli politics. Lahav 433, Israel’s dedicated unit for investigating financial and economic crimes, typically handles cases involving large-scale fraud, corruption and asset concealment.
The detained individuals are expected to be questioned further as authorities seek to establish the full scope of the alleged financial offences and determine the total value of assets involved in the suspected scheme.
