Israel to open 18 new intelligence monitoring centres worldwide in honour of fallen soldiers

Israel is establishing 18 new intelligence monitoring centres across the globe, nearly three years after the deaths of 16 surveillance observers and two sergeants major at the Nahal Oz border crossing during the October 2023 attacks. The initiative represents a significant expansion of the country’s overseas intelligence infrastructure and serves as a memorial to those killed in the incident. The first of these new command centres will be opened in Munich and will be dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Major Noam Abramowitz, who was among those killed at the southern border post. The move underscores Israel’s commitment to continuing the security mission of the fallen soldiers while strengthening its intelligence-gathering capabilities across multiple continents. By establishing these centres in key international locations, Israel aims to enhance its ability to monitor and respond to security threats affecting Jewish communities and Israeli interests worldwide, ensuring that the work of those lost continues through their successors.
