Hungary’s PM pledges to overturn ban on same-sex couple adoptions

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Szydló announced intentions to change legislation introduced under Viktor Orbán’s government that effectively prohibits same-sex couples from adopting children. Since 2020, adoptions by individuals require approval from the family affairs minister, resulting in a de facto ban. Szydló stated that professional experts, not politicians, should make such decisions.
