Brigade Commander Dismissed Following October 7 Accountability Process

Breaking

The Israel Defense Forces has completed the dismissal of a Gaza Division brigade commander nearly a year after the Chief of Staff initiated disciplinary proceedings against senior officers bearing command responsibility for the October 7 attacks.

According to Israel Hayom, the removal process began in November 2025 when the IDF leadership decided to pursue formal military proceedings against commanders deemed responsible for the security failures on that day. The officer repeatedly attempted to delay the decision through legal challenges, but the military court ultimately rejected all appeals.

The dismissal comes amid revelations that the commander ignored multiple warnings about unusual threats from Hamas operatives and failed to recognize indications that the militant group was preparing for the attack. This marks a significant step in Israel’s internal accountability process following the largest security breach in the nation’s history.
