In a significant operational restructuring, the Israeli Defence Force will cease responsibility for removing unauthorised outposts in the West Bank following the Yom Kippur holiday. According to Israel Hayom, this move has been initiated by the Defence Minister and represents a major policy shift in how settlement enforcement is handled.

The IDF will transfer a substantial portion of enforcement missions in the region to the Border Police (Magav), who will subsequently transfer responsibility to the Palestinian Affairs district within the national police service. This represents a major restructuring of security operations in the occupied territories.

The stated objective of the shift is to allow the IDF to focus more intensively on counter-terrorism operations and addressing broader security threats. The transition of settlement enforcement responsibilities to civilian police authorities marks a significant change in how Israel manages security in the West Bank.
