Israeli evacuation flights from Dubai face significant delays after the UAE reconsidered approval for Israeli airlines, according to reports from Ynet and Israel Hayom. The Israeli Transport Ministry announced Sunday morning that flights would proceed but be delayed due to “need to complete preparations and security coordination.”
El Al flight LY972, originally scheduled for October 2, was cancelled, leaving passengers who had already booked seats receiving cancellation notices. The ministry later indicated flights would begin Friday, though further delays were expected pending completion of security arrangements and diplomatic negotiations.
According to multiple sources, El Al ticket sales sold out within minutes before the cancellations were announced. Passengers were informed luggage trolleys and large suitcases would not be permitted on the aircraft, suggesting restrictive conditions for the evacuation operation.
The situation reflects ongoing tensions in Israel-UAE aviation relations, with negotiations continuing Sunday morning to resolve the diplomatic impasse that triggered the initial flight cancellations.
