Hijacker planned mass casualty attack on Ben Gurion Airport, investigation reveals

Breaking

An investigation into the attempted hijacking of a FlyDubai flight has revealed that the hijacker, Mamdouh al-Manama, intended to carry out a mass casualty attack at Ben Gurion Airport. According to interrogation findings from Ynet, al-Manama took control of the aircraft only after it entered Jordanian airspace to avoid immediate implementation of his plan.

The investigation indicates that al-Manama had arrived in Israel already in July and had postponed the attack date, reportedly sparing the life of a crew member. His stated objective was to crash the aircraft into Ben Gurion Airport as part of a planned terrorist attack.

According to the findings, should the Ben Gurion Airport attack prove unsuccessful, al-Manama had a secondary target: a US military base in the neighbouring kingdom. The hijacking represents a significant security incident with potential for mass casualties.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government announced it would implement recommendations from security services within five days of the incident, though full details of these measures were not disclosed in initial reporting.
