US Treasury warns foreign banks on Iran transactions

The US Treasury Department has warned foreign financial institutions that continuing transactions with sanctioned Iranian banks could result in penalties. Washington is demanding disconnection of activities conducted through subsidiaries and branches in third countries. Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett noted the Iranian rial has fallen to historic lows and Iran has not loaded crude oil onto tankers this month.
