Israel’s Shin Bet security service has announced it will assume direct operational control of security arrangements for Yizhar Ben-Gvir, chairman of the Otzma Yehudit party, beginning immediately. The decision comes following a recommendation from the advisory committee for personal security and the passage of over a week without ministerial consideration.
According to Israel Hayom, a private security company will be tasked with providing protection, but will operate directly under the control of Shin Bet Unit 730. The announcement was made to Ben-Gvir’s Yisrael Beiteinu party after the delay in ministerial committee review.
The shift represents a significant development in the security arrangements for a senior political figure, with the state security service taking over direct operational responsibility for protection measures.
