Three suspects in election bribery case expected to be released without restrictions

Breaking

Three residents of the Negev who were arrested on the eve of elections are expected to be released without court hearing or limiting conditions, according to reports from Ynet and Israel Hayom.

Investigators from the police’s Lahav 433 unit assess that unless dramatic evidence emerges by tomorrow, the suspects will be released to house arrest. The sources indicate that a substantive evidentiary foundation for pressing charges has not materialised.

The suspects claim they were activists assisting a charitable organisation that helps families in difficult circumstances, and argue they are victims of political interests. A source close to the suspects claimed that envelopes found contained only 12 shekels, though no proof was provided.

The case stemmed from information provided to police by a deputy head of the Prime Minister’s office staff. Four additional suspects in the matter have already been released to their homes.
