Hundreds of residents of Petah Tikva and the surrounding area, traditional, religious and non-religious, from the right, the left and all shades of the political spectrum, gathered this evening (Thursday) near Goren Square, for a circular discussion that connects for the first time between the opponents of the reform and the supporters of the legal reform. During the discourse, each of those present expressed his position on the issue, sometimes in harsh tones, and mostly in tones that gave importance to this evening. Each and every one of those present opened their positions on the table – for and against the reform of the judicial system – with the aim of reaching understandings, while having a respectful and proper discourse.
The member of the opposition in the municipality, lawyer Uri Ohad, who was one of the organizers of the evening, noted that "it all started with a demonstration that was held about a month ago in Goren Square, when demonstrations were held there for and against the reform. The participants hurled accusations and even insults at each other. At one point, several participants in the protest approached and offered to hold A conversation, to understand each other's views."
According to him, that day led to a meeting that was initially charged, but later fascinating, and full of hope, because despite the rift and division that is evident in the nation – it is still possible to sit down (if you want) and come to agreements and understandings, or at least to acknowledge each other's opinions and circumstances, if only to avoid violations An order of riots and violence surrounding the legal reform – whether or not it will come to fruition.
