Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai this morning (Monday) helped clear a traffic jam that had formed on Highway 1, this after one of the vehicles on the spot caught fire and endangered passers-by. Shabtai arrived at the point where the vehicle that caught fire was treated, after walking a distance of about two kilometers from the place where the vehicle stopped traveled

He began to direct the traffic on the spot, in order to release the traffic jam and prevent harm to civilians due to the spread of the fire. A few months ago, while he was making his way to his home near the Nachshonim junction, the Commissioner was rescued and assisted in a car accident that happened there.
Weeks earlier, at almost the same intersection, he joined a chase led by Central District police officers for a car thief who escaped from a police checkpoint and hit a police volunteer who was standing at the checkpoint, until the car thief was arrested.
