Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has criticised the Israeli government’s handling of a recent agreement, claiming it has squandered the military achievements of the Israel Defence Forces. Speaking on Monday following the signing of an accord overnight, Bennett argued that whilst the IDF and security forces have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in their operations against Iran, and Israeli civilians have shown tremendous resilience, the current administration has failed to translate these successes into sustainable security benefits for the country.
Bennett, who leads the right-wing “Yamina” party (known in English as “Together”), suggested that the government lacks the ability to make decisive moves. He criticised the administration for what he characterised as prolonged, inconclusive conflicts, stating that whilst the outgoing government has proven incapable of reaching firm conclusions, the situation remains fixable. His comments reflect ongoing tensions within Israel’s political establishment over how best to capitalise on military operations and translate tactical successes into broader strategic advantages.
