A 12-year-old boy has been seriously injured after falling from a donkey in the Bedouin settlements area near Yeruham in the Negev desert on Saturday. Paramedics from Magen David Adom (Israel’s ambulance service) provided emergency medical treatment at the scene before evacuating him to Soroka Medical Centre in Beersheba for further care. The circumstances of the fall are not yet clear, though such accidents are not uncommon in the Bedouin communities scattered across the Negev region, where donkeys and other animals remain common forms of transport and labour. The boy’s condition was described as moderate at the time of treatment.
