An elderly couple in Sharon were murdered after being mistaken for relatives caught up in a long-running family dispute. Khalid and Hanan were shot whilst leaving their home to go to work at a nursing home, despite having no involvement in the conflict that sparked the attack. Residents of their community, Kalanswa, say the couple became unintended victims when attackers failed to locate their intended targets.
The killing represents a dramatic escalation in what appears to be an escalating cycle of revenge killings within the family dispute. Local residents have expressed deep fear that further retaliatory attacks may follow, with community members describing a deteriorating security situation.
“The situation has become unbearable,” residents said. “Our streets have turned into scenes of bloodshed.” The attack highlights the dangers posed by unchecked family feuds that continue to claim innocent lives, even among those attempting to go about their daily lives. Authorities are investigating the killing as part of what appears to be an ongoing pattern of violence linked to the original family conflict.
