Five holidaymakers were detained yesterday at a beach on the Sea of Galilee after refusing to switch off loud music and identify themselves to police. The incident occurred at a designated quiet beach where music and excessive noise are prohibited under local regulations.
According to the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) Cities Union, the beach in question has strict rules designed to protect the peaceful environment for other visitors. The bathers repeatedly refused officers’ requests to lower the volume of their music and would not provide identification when asked to do so.
The refusal to cooperate with authorities led to the formal detention of all five individuals. Police are understood to have taken statements and are reviewing the circumstances of the incident. Quiet beach designations are common across Israel’s popular water destinations to balance recreational use with environmental protection and visitor comfort.
