German prosecutors have filed charges against seven Hamas members who allegedly established an operational infrastructure across Europe to plan attacks against Israelis and Jewish targets. The investigation revealed a sophisticated network that acquired firearms, automatic rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition stored in Vienna.
According to Ynet’s investigation, the cell planned to carry out attacks marking the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks. Members of the group also produced a video claiming responsibility for their planned operations, indicating an advanced stage of preparation.
Significantly, one of the suspects has been identified as a source for the German security services (Verfassungsschutz), raising questions about intelligence oversight and potential security lapses. The discovery of the weaponry and operational planning documents suggests the cell had progressed beyond initial planning stages.
This represents a major counter-terrorism operation, demonstrating ongoing Hamas efforts to establish attack capabilities in Europe despite heightened security measures following October 7.
