The IDF has conducted demolitions of businesses in Hebron without providing prior hearings to the owners, according to statements made to Israel’s High Court. The military justified the actions by citing urgent security risks in the area.
Business owners affected by the demolitions have denied any involvement in deadly attacks and have alleged that the demolitions constitute collective punishment against the Palestinian business community in Hebron.
The case has reached Israel’s High Court, where the state is defending its security rationale for the rapid demolitions, while defence lawyers argue the procedure violated due process rights and constituted disproportionate action against uninvolved parties.
