Israeli military forces have expanded territorial control in Gaza beyond parameters set in the Trump ceasefire agreement, according to Gaza Division Commander Col. Liron Batito. The IDF now controls approximately 63% of Gaza’s territory, representing a 10% increase from agreed terms.
Batito stated that the expanded control provides “substantial advantage,” with settlements positioned behind front lines and combat troops advancing forward. The commander emphasised operational constraints during the hostage situation, noting that military operations were limited to avoid endangering captives.
This development occurs as ceasefire negotiations continue and represents a significant shift in Israel’s military positioning within Gaza since the October 7 conflict began three years ago.
