The Israeli Defence Force has launched an enhanced combat training initiative for soldiers serving in non-frontline roles, including medical, logistics, maintenance, communications, human resources, and rabbinate personnel. The new military school provides specialised ‘infantry-oriented’ training to address critical vulnerabilities exposed during the 7 October Hamas attack.
The training programme represents a significant shift in IDF doctrine, recognising that support personnel may need to engage in direct combat operations during large-scale security incidents. The establishment of this new training facility demonstrates the military’s systematic response to operational lessons identified following the October 7 massacre.
This initiative underscores broader efforts within the Israeli military to strengthen overall force readiness and eliminate gaps in combat preparedness across all personnel categories, ensuring comprehensive defensive capabilities across the entire organisational structure.
