Israel Deploys Thousands of Police and Shin Bet Fighters Ahead of Yom Kippur Holiday

Breaking

Police Commissioner Dani Levi ordered a significant reinforcement of police forces ahead of Yom Kippur, which begins Sunday evening. Thousands of police officers and Shin Bet fighters will be deployed across the country around synagogues, sensitive sites, and areas where clashes are feared.

The deployment represents a major security operation coordinated by Israeli law enforcement in preparation for the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Police have emphasised that whilst precautions are being taken, there is currently no concrete intelligence or indication of specific threats to carry out attacks during the holiday.

This follows increased tensions in Judea and Samaria, where the IDF is also preparing for the influx of thousands of visitors expected during Yom Kippur and the subsequent Sukkot holiday period.
