Israel Railways CEO Micha Meixner has resigned from his position

Israel Railways CEO Micha Meixner resigned from his position today (Sunday). In a letter issued on his behalf, he wrote: "These were four consecutive years of enormous challenges and safety and security events in which Israel Railways played a central role."

He added: "I would like to inform you that in the last few days I have decided to end my position as CEO of Israel Railways and I intend to end my tenure in the coming months. About four years ago I was appointed CEO of Israel Railways and I was given a tremendous commitment and endless responsibility out of a sense of mission and public volunteerism. Years of real action and creating infrastructure and capabilities, starting up huge infrastructure and technology projects at the same time as providing a daily service that improved the level and accuracy of the trains, making information accessible , in improving safety and providing a response and infrastructure to congestion and the growing demands for the train service."

Meixner wrote and expressed his gratitude: "In the past year, we have completed a collective agreement that we have been working on for the past few years and which should provide both changes and peace for the conduct of the organization, and we have agreed with government officials on an operating and subsidy agreement that will support the development and growth of the company in the coming years while maintaining financial strength and the ability to provide optimal service to the public. This is alongside promoting the electrification project as the flagship project of the Israel Railways and shortening it by 6 years. I met a quality group of amazing, dedicated employees and managers imbued with professional pride who are cohesive and goal-oriented who work day and night to produce a better organization and optimal service for the train passengers and the entire public. Thank you to the train passengers for their patience And the support they showed to allow us to promote the railway infrastructure for the benefit of improving the service to the general public. Thank you to the professionals in the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance and the other government bodies who all supported and created the infrastructure and enabled the advancement of this vital organization."
