Firefighters and rescue teams have successfully contained a major fire that broke out at an underground car park at a building site for the BIG shopping complex in Petah Tikva on Sunday night. All active fire sources have been extinguished and the situation is now under the control of fire service crews, according to officials.

The blaze erupted in the basement level of the construction site earlier in the evening, prompting a significant emergency response. Firefighting teams worked through the night to prevent the flames from spreading to other areas of the development.

Roei Kadam, commander of the Israel Fire and Rescue Service’s central district, has ordered the establishment of a special investigation team to examine the circumstances surrounding the fire’s outbreak. The inquiry will seek to determine whether the fire was accidental or caused by negligence during construction work.
