Major firefight near Hebron leaves two seriously wounded; military thwarts potential major attack

Breaking

A significant armed exchange near the Judea junction close to Hebron lasted approximately 20 minutes, resulting in two people being seriously wounded. Israeli security forces engaged with militants who were subsequently eliminated by armed forces from the Ari Battalion of Home Front Command, a unit newly established this year to increase operational capacity.

According to the Chief of Staff’s assessment briefing, military intelligence indicates the attackers were en route to carry out a substantial attack against civilians. The rapid response by security forces is credited with preventing a more serious incident. The 20-minute firefight demonstrates the ongoing security tensions in the West Bank region.

This incident follows earlier shooting attacks in the area and reflects continued security challenges in Judea and Samaria, with government officials calling for broader military operations in the region.
