Israeli police have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of stabbing his father during a violent incident at their home in Bat Yam on Friday. The victim, aged 55, was stabbed in his hands and feet and was taken to Wolfson Medical Centre in a moderate condition. Officers from Bat Yam police station responded to the incident on Balfour Street in the coastal city.
Police have opened a formal investigation into the assault and collected evidence from the scene. Detectives are continuing their enquiries as they work to establish the circumstances that led to the stabbing. The investigation is ongoing and police say they will seek to extend the suspect’s detention pending a court hearing, where prosecutors are expected to request that he remain in custody as the case progresses.
