A 63-year-old man has been shot dead in the village of Jdieideh in western Galilee, in what appears to be another deadly incident within Arab communities in northern Israel. Mohammad Naiemi was pronounced dead at the scene following the shooting. His son was separately wounded in the attack and has been transferred to Naharia Hospital in critical condition. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing. The incident adds to a growing toll of violence within Arab communities across Israel since the beginning of the year. Authorities have recorded 153 murders within Arab society during 2024, reflecting an ongoing crisis of criminal violence and gang-related activity that has plagued communities across the country. The shooting in Jdieideh represents the latest in a series of deadly incidents that have prompted calls from community leaders and rights groups for increased security measures and investment in violence prevention programmes.
