A man in his 40s was shot in Rishon LeZion on Tuesday afternoon in an incident that underscores ongoing concerns about organised crime in central Israel. Emergency responders from Magen David Adom (Israel’s ambulance service) arrived at the scene and provided immediate medical care to the victim, whose condition is described as moderate.
The man was evacuated to Assaf Harofeh Medical Centre with a penetrating injury sustained from the shooting. Medical staff have confirmed his injuries are serious but not life-threatening at this stage. Investigators have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Rishon LeZion, located south of Tel Aviv in the Gush Dan metropolitan area, has experienced periodic incidents of violence linked to criminal organisations over recent years. The incident marks the latest in a series of shootings that have raised alarm amongst residents of Israel’s central region.
