Mexican Jewish community gifts £400,000 facility to elite Israeli commando unit

The Yamam counter-terrorism unit has inaugurated a new fighters’ park funded by approximately 2 million shekels (roughly £400,000) in donations from Mexico’s Jewish community. The facility, which represents a significant gesture of solidarity from diaspora Jewry, will serve multiple purposes for the unit’s personnel, including recreational activities, ceremonial events and memorial gatherings.At the heart of the new complex stands a monument dedicated to fallen members of Yamam, Israel’s specialist police counter-terrorism unit. The park will provide a dedicated space for the unit to honour its casualties whilst offering facilities to improve the welfare and morale of active operators.The donation underscores the strong ties between Israel and Jewish communities across Latin America, with Mexican Jewry’s contribution reflecting broader diaspora support for Israeli security forces.
