Pilot admits to attempting to crash aircraft on Israeli target; security failures under investigation

Breaking

An investigation into a failed attack on an Israeli aircraft has revealed that the pilot, identified as Al-Mammi, underwent radicalisation in Syria and posted extremist content online before attempting to crash the plane on an Israeli target.

During interrogation, Al-Mammi confessed his intentions to destroy the aircraft against a target in Israel. Multiple sources, including Ynet and Israel Hayom, report that investigators are examining critical security failures that allowed him to pass security checks despite red flags.

Ynet reports that Al-Mammi was previously suspended by his airline due to jihadist radicalisation and was rejected by Royal Air Moroccan despite three months of training. However, these warnings and legal requirements to transfer crew names to Israel did not prevent him from boarding an aircraft to Israel.

The investigation is now focused on identifying responsibility for the security lapses and determining who will conduct a full inquiry into the failures that allowed a suspected terrorist with known radical connections to operate as a pilot on flights to Israel.
