Recordings obtained during the investigation captured a disturbing exchange in which the man’s child asked their mother, ‘Is that a police officer?’ The father responded by telling his child, ‘I’m not a police officer, I’m a criminal.’ The investigation was conducted by Israel’s Police Internal Affairs Unit, which recommended both his dismissal and criminal prosecution. Despite this recommendation, the State Prosecutor’s Office closed the file, arguing that ‘criminal proceedings are not an appropriate framework’ for this case.
