Russian authorities reported on Monday that a drone attack was underway in the Yaroslavl region, located northeast of Moscow. The regional governor made the announcement as what appears to be a coordinated assault unfolded across the area.
The attack represents a continuation of Ukraine’s long-range drone operations deep into Russian territory. Such strikes have become increasingly frequent in recent months, with Ukrainian forces targeting military installations, infrastructure, and logistics hubs far from the front lines.
Yaroslavl sits approximately 250 kilometres northeast of the Russian capital and is home to significant industrial facilities. Regional officials typically release limited information about such attacks, though independent Russian media and Ukrainian sources often provide more detailed accounts of damage and casualties.
The strike comes as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, now in its third year. Ukraine has steadily expanded its drone capabilities and operational range, allowing it to conduct strikes at targets across western Russia despite lacking a conventional air force.
