Israeli security leadership has approved a significant reallocation of security responsibilities in Judea and Samaria, transferring primary counter-extremism operations from IDF soldiers to Border Police units. The decision follows a special security discussion and reflects changing tactical priorities in the region.
Under the new arrangement, Magav (Border Police) fighters will take the lead in confronting Jewish extremist violence, while IDF forces will be redeployed to routine security missions. The Chief of Staff has issued refined operational guidelines for police units handling these scenarios.
The shift comes after the incident in Jaloud exposed significant operational gaps that prompted the strategic reassessment of which forces are best suited for different security challenges in the territory.
