A tanker has come under attack off the coast of Oman, according to reports received by the UK Maritime Trade Operations authority (UKMTO). The incident occurred approximately 21 nautical miles from the port city of Hasab in the Arabian Sea.
Witnesses reported observing a large water spray and an explosion in the immediate vicinity of the vessel, suggesting that projectiles or ordnance detonated close to the ship. However, initial assessments indicate that the tanker itself sustained no damage from the attack.
The UKMTO, which monitors maritime security in busy international shipping lanes, logged the incident as part of ongoing concerns over regional maritime safety. The waters near Oman have experienced several security incidents in recent years, prompting heightened vigilance from international naval forces and commercial shipping operators.
