Yaron Roth, son of Esther Roth Shakhamorov, Israel's best female athlete of all time, winner of the Israel Prize for Sports and Physical Education (1999) and a survivor of Munich 1972, appealed to the general public in Israel and asked to find people who would agree to donate a kidney to his mother. This, after a few days ago, Roth Shahmarov was hospitalized at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva and she is dealing with the rejection of the kidney that was transplanted into her body 14 years ago. Ruth Shahmarov needs a repeat transplant.
Yaron Roth, formerly Israel's champion in fencing and bronze medalist in the European Youth Championships under 20, said today (Tuesday): "My mother suffers from severe kidney failure, and she needs a repeat kidney transplant to save her life. We in the family suffer from a genetic kidney disease of polycystic kidneys And so, unfortunately, we cannot donate a kidney to her. On behalf of the Roth Shakhamorov family, I appeal to the citizens of Israel and ask that a kidney donor be found for my mother, Esther Roth Shahmorov, so that she can return to a normal life and full functioning."
Any person over the age of 27, without underlying diseases, who was not born prematurely, a person without excess weight whose BMI value is lower than 29 and women who have finished giving birth and did not have gestational diabetes, can donate.
The process will be accompanied by the Menat Haim association led by Rabbi Rachel Haber, the recipient of the Israel Prize (2023) for a special contribution to society and the country, who founded the association and encourages help for patients who need a kidney by donating a kidney from a living person.
