Two teenagers rescued from streams in Golan Heights

Two teenagers required emergency rescue operations on Tuesday after falling into separate streams in the Golan Heights region. The first incident occurred when a boy fell approximately three metres into Wadi Yehudiya. An Israel Air Force helicopter and a specialist rescue team from Unit 669 were dispatched to the scene, extracting the teenager who was fully conscious despite suffering a minor head injury. He was transferred to a waiting ambulance for further treatment.

At the same time, a second teenager fell into Wadi Banias, sustaining an injury to his leg. Paramedics from the Golan rescue unit provided initial medical treatment at the scene before carrying him on a stretcher to a nearby car park. An intensive care ambulance from Magen David Adom, Israel’s national ambulance service, was standing by to transport him to hospital for continued care.

The dual rescues highlighted the dangers posed by wadis—seasonal watercourses common throughout the Golan Heights—particularly during the winter months when water levels can rise unexpectedly. Both teenagers were evacuated safely, though the extent of their injuries required hospital assessment.
