Ultra-Orthodox protesters blocked Route 4, Israel’s main highway, for approximately two hours during peak traffic on Sunday in a demonstration against the arrest of draft dodgers. The blockade caused significant traffic disruption.
According to Times of Israel, demonstrators scuffled with drivers attempting to pass. Police deployed stun grenades to disperse the crowd and clear the highway. No injuries or arrests were reported from the incident.
The protest reflects ongoing tensions between the Ultra-Orthodox community and the government over military draft enforcement and exemptions.
