Ultra-Orthodox faction calls major protests over draft enforcement

The Jerusalem faction of ultra-Orthodox opponents announced large-scale demonstrations across Israel following renewed arrests of draft evaders. The protests, scheduled for mid-afternoon, were called in response to what organisers characterised as violations of Torah honour and dignity. The announcement came after the arrests were handed over to secular authorities rather than being managed internally within the ultra-Orthodox community.
