Urban nature: dozens of trips that are hiding under our noses

On Friday, June 2, the "Urban Nature Week 2023" of the Society for the Protection of Nature will open. As part of it, there will be dozens of guided trips and family activities in our natural environment, free of charge or for a nominal fee. The activities will take place all over Israel and will also include a festive happening, with all activities divided on the Society for the Protection of Nature's website by regions – North, Center, South and Jerusalem and the surrounding area. Among the activities:

A nature celebration for the whole family, in Batia souvenirs – "Come celebrate the weekend with us, at a family event for the children of the cruiser groups. We will go on a trip suitable for everyone, during which there will be instructional stations and sessions on a variety of topics – familiarization with the flora and fauna, creations for the whole family, and even cooking in nature and making pita in the oven" .

Jumping in time in Nahal Hadas or Nahal Ayalon – "The game takes place during a trip, and simulates a group of travelers, which jumps in time 10 years ahead. north:

We will meet in the afternoon, for a tour and activity in the crater, we will explore the local soil In short experiments, we will discover the secrets of the local vegetation, we will look for signs of wild animals in the field and we will learn to listen to the language of the birds, thanks to which we will recognize the birds, for which the crater is their home. We will learn what we can do to help preserve this special place and the wild animals that live in it."

Lantern tour in Kishon Park – "The lantern tour, combined with a night safari. An experiential night trip, just before the weekend and a short distance from home. We will tour the Kishon Park, see the park in the dark, get to know the wild animals that wake up at night and have a unique experience for the whole family."

Happening at the KKL-Junk Park in Kiryat Shmona, with a field study center, Mizrachi Galilee – "Let's discover the magic of the forest, on a lantern tour – we will hear stories, discover the story of the city of rivers, find stars and other things that only appear in the evening, drink herbal tea and coffee A bonfire, and we will listen to a musical performance by the sunflower singer, Coral Bismuth."

An experience in Katsrin, with the Golan Field School – "an afternoon activity at the Selukia springs, right next to Katsrin. During the activity, we will explore the nature close to our home, we will learn about the Golan and at dusk, we will go on a magical lantern tour."

Blossom tour in Nahal HaBaer – "The Western Galilee Field Study Center, of the Society for the Protection of Nature, invites you to a family blossom tour, in the beautiful Nahal HaBaer, in the heart of Hanita Forest. During the trip, we will get to know the interface between nature and the city, we will learn about the challenges and the interesting combination between them, And we will continue after the tour to the Palmach activity at the Wall and Migdal site, with field cooking and pitas on the Sage."

South:

A nighttime experience in Beer Sheva, with Southern tour groups – a relaxed social evening, of beer, stargazing and a short and interesting lecture about stars, supernovae and black holes, in the heart of the city.

Following the darkness – a lantern and astronomy tour, with Eilat Field School – "Right at the edge of the city, Wadi Shahmon is hidden. When the sun begins to disappear and the sky is a faint light of twilight, we will walk with lanterns, but the real light will be the moon. We will learn how wild animals manage to live in the dark , we will visit an ancient archaeological site, drink tea and make a development on the tabon."

The event at Lake Yeruham, with the Negev Mountain Field School – "an activity for the whole family, where you can watch the sunset from Lake Yeruham and enjoy creative and nature activities around the lake. We will watch the stars and hear legends and mythologies related to them, after sunset we will conduct a magical lantern tour on the lake promenade."

Jerusalem and the surrounding area:
