"We will oppose the budget": Goldknopf threatens the coalition and sends a message to Gaffni

The Minister of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Goldknopf , demanded today (Thursday) from Knesset member Moshe Gafni and the Torah Flag that the Torah Judaism faction oppose the state budget , "because the government does not honor the agreements regarding ultra-orthodox education as Netanyahu promised."

MK from the Likud: "If we try to be Popeye with the ultra-Orthodox – we will achieve the opposite result"

In an urgent letter to Knesset member Gafni, Goldknopf wrote: "Out of shared responsibility for the future of the Torah institutions, which have been facing enormous budgetary difficulties for years. We all stand and expect that the government we elected will comply with all clauses of the coalition agreement signed between the Likud faction and the Torah Judaism faction."

Regarding the fact that they did not respect the clauses agreed upon in the agreements, he wrote: "This is a clear and painful violation of a coalition agreement, which was signed only a few months ago. An agreement which is supposed to give the electorate what we promised them on the eve of the elections. Although success was recorded in a number of issues leading to joint activity, but It has no power to diminish our responsibility for the other essential issues.

Regarding the budget, which he claims "could damage the financial capabilities of sustaining the world of Torah, and could affect hundreds of thousands of workers and Torah students in kollels and yeshiva," Goldknopf demanded: "We will not give up on such a budget. Until the expected and necessary amendment of all the sections, we will be forced to vote against the budget. We must Make it clear to the Prime Minister that he has no mandate to ignore what was agreed upon in the coalition agreement."
