114 rabbis urge voting only for parties certain to pass threshold

One hundred and fourteen rabbis have signed an open letter calling voters to cast ballots only for parties guaranteed to surpass the electoral threshold, framing it as a matter of “pikuach nefesh” (saving lives). Amek Yisrael party chairman met with three of the rabbis in an attempt to prevent publication of the letter, but stated that only the public determines Israel’s future. The move comes amid debate over vote fragmentation ahead of national elections.
