75-year-old woman charged over deaths of two police officers in traffic collision

A 75-year-old woman has been charged with causing the deaths of two Border Police officers through negligent driving after she allegedly ignored a stop sign and blocked their motorcycles at a junction. According to the indictment filed against Helen Sakhayik, she entered the intersection without obeying the stop sign and stop line, directly into the path of Sergeant Gal Yosef and Sergeant Tomer Eliahu Klipi. The two officers collided with her vehicle with considerable force and were killed at the scene. The incident has raised serious questions about road safety and adherence to traffic regulations in Israel. Sakhayik has been charged with two counts of causing death through negligent driving, as well as reckless driving.
