Satellite images reveal activity at Iran’s underground nuclear facility

Satellite imagery analysis has detected signs of activity at Iran’s underground nuclear complex near Natanz, according to new assessments by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS). The imagery, obtained from commercial satellite provider Maxar Technologies, shows indications of work taking place at the subterranean facility located beneath Pikakis mountain.

The discovery comes as international tensions remain high over Iran’s nuclear programme. The Natanz site has long been a focal point for international scrutiny, with the facility serving as Iran’s primary uranium enrichment centre. Previous satellite imagery has frequently revealed construction work and operational activity at the location.

Analysts at the Washington-based institute, which specialises in monitoring weapons of mass destruction programmes, regularly publish their findings on Iranian nuclear developments. The latest observations continue a pattern of detailed monitoring that has tracked the site’s activities over many years, providing valuable intelligence to Western governments and the international community regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
