Italian prosecutors have expanded their investigation into the seizure of aid ships bound for Gaza to include Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Katz alongside National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, according to reports from Italian media on Friday. The criminal investigation, filed in Rome in June, concerns the interception of humanitarian aid vessels and the treatment of activists involved in the aid missions.
According to La Repubblica, the investigation encompasses 13 senior Israeli security officials. The case specifically examines allegations related to the seizure of the aid ships and potential violations in how those involved were treated during the incidents.
This marks a significant escalation in international legal scrutiny of Israeli government figures, with Italian authorities pursuing charges that could include allegations of kidnapping and torture in connection with the aid ship operations.
