The Israel Defence Forces have deployed remotely-operated explosive vehicles in multiple operations in eastern Gaza, according to Palestinian reports monitored by Walla news. The vehicles, referred to colloquially as “exploding robots,” were activated in three separate incidents overnight Saturday in areas east of Gaza City.
The IDF confirmed the general deployment of such unmanned systems as part of ongoing operations in depopulated civilian areas. The stated purpose of the remote-controlled vehicles is to destroy terrorist infrastructure and neutralise potential threats to IDF forces operating in evacuated zones.
Operations involving the explosive vehicles have included targeting of tunnel networks and other militant infrastructure. The IDF has indicated that deployment of such systems is part of a broader effort to clear areas of potential threats while minimising risk to ground forces.
