Senior Arab MKs from the Joint List have signalled willingness to provide external support for a government formed without Benjamin Netanyahu, marking a significant development in Israel’s political landscape. MK Ahmad Tibi has urged Eisenkot to follow the precedent set by Yitzhak Rabin in relying on Arab parliamentary support to govern.
Joint List chair Ofer Jabareen confirmed that coalition contacts have begun, whilst dismissing claims of Qatari interference in Israeli political processes. However, Jabareen declined to characterise Hamas as a terror organisation, reflecting ongoing divisions within the Arab political bloc.
The statement comes amidst reports that the Change bloc is preparing to capitalise on its parliamentary majority, planning to advance legislative measures before a government is formally established. Netanyahu’s team is reportedly working to counter these moves and prevent cooperation with Arab parties.
