Froma Galant, the mother of Defense Minister Yoav Galant, passed away this morning (Thursday) at the age of 88. The details of her funeral and oath will be provided later. Gallant's entourage stated that he will continue to deal with operational matters on an ongoing basis.

Froma Galant nee Segal, a Holocaust survivor born in Poland, qualified for Israel aboard the ship Exodus which was stopped by the British and most of its Jewish refugees were deported to occupied Germany until she immigrated to Israel and lived in a dilapidated apartment in Jaffa. Whatever happened, my parents refused to talk about the issue and did not explode here. I cannot understand the terrible things that happened in Germany. Today we are one nation and as a nation we must be strong and not fight with each other, all of us The same people."

Minister Galant told about the special relationship with his mother: "My mother and I are very close. From the age of 16, my sister and I were the only ones with her. I helped provide for the house after my father's death and our lives were reduced. We were in a close relationship." After the announcement of Gallant's dismissal last March, the Minister of Defense published a video in which he is seen talking to his mother and being encouraged by her. "You have intelligence and courage," she told him.
