A historic move: another step towards the establishment of a new hospital in the Negev

Health Minister Uriel Bosso met this morning (Thursday) with Beer Sheva Mayor Rubik Danilovich and held the first status meeting with him after the historic government decision to establish the new hospital in the city.

We will remind you that at the beginning of this month, the government approved the construction of a new public hospital in the Negev, which will be located in Beer Sheva and is expected to open in 2028. The ownership of the new hospital will be jointly owned by the two health funds, United and National. The new medical center will be named after Shimon Peres, it is expected to include about 600 hospital beds.

As part of the minister's visit to the capital of the Negev, a working meeting was held in the city council hall, in which Mayor Danilovich, Deputy Mayor Oshri Avikhazer, CEO of the municipality Avishag Abtobi, council members, department managers and other officials in the municipality also participated.

Minister Boso asked to hear how the construction process is progressing and when the work is expected to begin in the complex intended for the new hospital. The minister was informed that the laying of the cornerstone is expected to take place soon, probably in the coming weeks. In addition, the meeting discussed actions aimed at reducing disparities in the health sector in the city of Be'er Sheva , as well as possible plans for training medical personnel in the Negev.

At the end of the visit, Health Minister Uriel Bosso said the following: "I arrived in the city of Be'er Sheva to examine together with the mayor how the construction process of the new hospital can be accelerated. I was happy to hear that the municipality and its leader are harnessed and working to start construction in the near future. The Ministry of Health under my leadership will assist as much as possible This is given so that we can see the first stone being laid and the tractors starting to work in the hospital complex."
