Ministers Itamar Ben Gabir and Bezalel Smotrich argued that the decision should be left in the hands of the expanded cabinet. However, the two remained in the minority and the decision was made.

A short time ago, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari referred to the launch of more than 100 ballistic missiles at Israel: "A little while ago, Israel launched dozens of surface-to-air missiles from its territory. The vast majority of the missiles were intercepted. A number of individual missiles fell in our territory. At this stage we know of damage to the IDF base in the south with only minor damage to the infrastructure.

Air Force planes intercepted more than 10 cruise missiles outside the borders of the State of Israel. In total, more than 200 threats were launched. The threat is not over yet, we continue to intercept. We are still in full deployment with dozens of planes in the air in defense. Most of the threats were intercepted, but I repeat, we do not take risks and act in accordance with the directives of the Home Front Command. We prepared for these scenarios shortly and we are acting according to the operational plans."
