The UK government has stated with “near certainty” that Iran is responsible for a thwarted terrorist attack at RAF Fairford, a British air base from which American bombers operate for strikes against Iran. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak effectively placed responsibility on Tehran for the prevented terror attack.
The accusation was made in a joint statement by the UK alongside the United States, Australia, Canada and 25 additional nations, with signatories declaring: “We will act against anyone acting on its behalf.” This coordinated international response represents significant diplomatic pressure against Iran.
In response to the incident, London has imposed sanctions against two Iranian individuals. The coordinated multilateral statement underscores Western allies’ unified stance on Iranian-sponsored terrorism and signals potential consequences for further hostile actions.
